Support Reform of California's Ellis Act!
Support California Senate Bill SB 1834!

Urgent message from Lincoln Place locked-out tenant Jan Book:

Dear Tenants, Neighbors, and Friends:

We need your help in supporting SB 1834, the currently proposed amendment to the Ellis Act. We want to create a movement: Renters Against the Ellis Act!

Please inform every renter in California that you know about this proposed legislation. We can get the attention of our state legislators and we can defeat the Ellis Act. With Lincoln Place as the poster child for unfair evictions and SB 1834 as our legislative action, we can create a movement. And we can make a difference.

Act now! Send this information to everyone you know and encourage them to send it to their friends. If every renter or every future or past renter were to write a letter, our voices would speak loud and clear to the state legislators that the Ellis Act is bad for renters and bad for California.

Read and forward the following information to your friends:

Please note that at this time, SB 1834 does not have all of its amendments. We will be adding more amendments when SB 1834 moves into the Assembly. We currently have 13 additional amendments to the bill but will only present one amendment at this time.

We are at a critical junction. If we can't get the bill out of the Senate Transportation and Housing Committee by May 2, then the bill is dead.

We need your letters of support by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2006.

So write your letters and fax them to the people on the attached list. If you can only do three letters, please write and fax them to Lowenthal, Stivers, and Alarcon. Thank you.

You can make a difference. Take the time NOW to write and fax your letters of support, and email this notice to all of your friends.

Thank you.
