About Lincoln Place Apartments Lincoln Place Apartments was built during 1949-1951 to address the post-WWII housing crisis; GIs returning to California found that they were unable to find affordable housing, and many had been reduced to homelessness. Lincoln Place was built with the assistance of federal funds, and its high-quality design paired with reasonable rents led its nearly 800 units to be quickly filled with tenants.
